education is a third option. sustainability mission, even though the bikes are very minimal energy use. it still matters where the energy comes from and also part of the mission in sustainability is how we run everything, run our business. so having the lights come on with clean energy is important to us as well. we heard about cleanpowersf and learned they had commercial rates and signed up for that. it was super easy to sign up. our bookkeeper signed up online, it was like 15 minutes. nothing has changed, except now we have cleaner energy. it's an easy way to align your environmental proclivities and goals around climate change and it's so easy that it's hard to not want to do it, and it doesn't really add anything to the bill.

in general education classrooms along with their general education peers. graduation rates for the students in the special ed programs have jumped up in 2018. it was 66% for 2017. new numbers are 73.5%. so this is a gain. but we would love to see those numbers higher. 88% is a graduation rate for our general education students, so we'd like to be closer to that level. and just for your notes, our numbers do not include students on certificate track, so that is not included in our percentage. the other thing we want to point out is that students of color are overrepresented in sfusd by 40%. they are referred into special education at a much higher rate. in these cases, just as in the case of larry p, many students are mislabelled and do not get the intervention they truly need. the high number of absences and suspensions in the charts below, so the blue lines that are jumping way up, those are chronic absenteeism by grade level. i'm sorry, it's not showing on the bottom here, but the numbers at the end, the higher numbers in the chart are middle and high sch

it wasn't just education. education is part of that decline. the fact that when i was a kid working in a convenience store on the east coast in new jersey we sold a pack of cigarettes for 75 cents or a dollar. prices have gone up on those cigarettes over the years and that's an absolutely crucial piece of the puzzle in decreasing smoking rates. and then investing those cigarette taxes into education and health programs and it become a vir child abuse circle and lives have been saved and communities are healthier as a result. this is no different. you recall 50 years ago when the surgeon general came out with his warning that cigarettes cause cancer, that was controversial at the time and the industry fought it, just like the soda industry sort of killed the bill in sacramento to require labeling on sugary beverages. at the same time this ib dust tri within san francisco saying don't do a tax, just education, they're talking out the other side of their mouth in sacramento saying how dare you even put a label on your products, saying these drinks

i had positive experience with para educators. i co-taught a class with a para educator. that wouldn't be been possible without our relationship and that we worked as a team. i wanted to pull out from this report it states that some interviews indicated that regularly teachers are being pulled from their regular duties to act as substitute teachers. that's heart-breaking to me. they should be there for those with the most need and not the general ed teams. those are the teachers that are kind of the most overloaded are pinch-hitting for other educators. then it said several -- and then also we see a shortage of para educators. it states administration at sites that had had less para educator turnover increased their retention rate. there i see an opportunity, because as i mentioned i had a really great rapport with my para educator. i shared my lesson plans with her and she told me and we worked professionally as a team and we had a mutual respect. i believe it made it fun for us to work together. i think in many cases, depending on psych culture, i think that there are s
